Baseball is like a big game of tag with a ball. There are two teams, and each team takes turns being the batters and the fielders. The batters try to hit the ball and run around a big square called a diamond. The fielders try to catch the ball and tag the batters out before they can run all the way around the diamond and back to where they started.
Think of baseball like a giant race. The batter’s job is to hit the ball and run as fast as they can to the next base. There are four bases: first, second, third, and home. If the batter makes it all the way around the bases and back to home, their team scores a point, called a run.
Imagine baseball as a game of catch with a twist. The pitcher throws the ball to the batter, who tries to hit it. If the batter hits the ball far away, they get to run. But if the fielders catch the ball before it hits the ground or tag the batter with the ball, the batter is out. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins!
