engine
An engine is like the heart of a car. Just like your heart pumps blood to keep you moving, the engine pumps energy to make the car go. It takes in air and fuel, mixes them up, and makes tiny explosions to create power. This power is what turns the wheels and makes the car move. Without an engine, the car would be like a toy that can’t move on its own.
Think of an engine as a super-strong wind-up toy. When you twist a wind-up toy, it stores energy and then releases it to move. The engine does something similar but much more powerful. It uses fuel, like gas, as its energy source. When the engine is running, it’s like the toy being wound up and released over and over again.
Another way to understand an engine is to imagine it as a kitchen blender. In a blender, you put in ingredients, and it mixes them up to make a smoothie. The engine mixes air and fuel, then “blends” them with a spark to create energy. This energy is what powers the car, just like the smoothie powers you up in the morning.
