length
Length is like a measuring stick for how long something is. Imagine a piece of string. When you stretch it out, you can see how far it goes from one end to the other. That distance is what we call ‘length’. It’s like when you use your hands to show how big a fish you caught, from the tip of its nose to the end of its tail.
Think of a race track. When cars race, they go from the start line to the finish line. The path they travel is the track’s length. It’s the same idea when you draw a line with your crayons. From where your crayon starts to where it ends on the paper, that’s the length of your line.
Imagine a train. When you look at a train, it has many cars linked together. The length of the train is how much space it takes up from the front to the back. When you build with blocks, the line of blocks you make also has a length. It’s how many blocks you used from the first one to the last.
