shadow
A shadow is like your invisible friend that follows you around when the sun is out. When the bright light from the sun hits you, it can’t go through you, so it makes a dark shape on the ground next to you. This dark shape is your shadow. It’s like when you play with a flashlight and your toys; the toys block the light and make shadow shapes on the wall.
Think of a shadow as a blanket that covers the ground. When you stand in the sun, you are like a tall mountain, and your shadow is the blanket that stretches out behind you. It moves when you move, and it can be big or small, depending on where the sun is in the sky.
A shadow is also like a copy of you that doesn’t have any colors. It can dance and jump just like you do, but it doesn’t make any sounds. If you wave your hand, your shadow waves too, but it’s always very quiet. Shadows are fun to play with because you can make different shapes with your body, and your shadow will copy them.
