triangle
A triangle is a special kind of shape that has three sides and three corners, called vertices. Imagine drawing a picture of a mountain; the top of the mountain is like one of the triangle’s corners, and the sides of the mountain are like the triangle’s sides. These sides come together to make a pointy shape.
Another way to think about a triangle is to picture a piece of pizza. When you cut a pizza, each slice is a triangle! The pointy end of the slice is one corner of the triangle, and the crust forms the longest side. The other two sides are where the cheese and toppings are.
Triangles can look different. There are equilateral triangles where all sides are the same length, like a perfectly balanced see-saw. Then there are isosceles triangles, which have two sides the same, like a pair of matching socks. And finally, scalene triangles, where all sides are different lengths, like a wobbly stool with uneven legs. But no matter how they look, triangles always have three sides and three corners.
